New Seasons
New seasons.
They appear far more often than our hearts are ready to welcome.
What I’ve learned in this life is that new seasons rarely align with our expectations—they either arrive too soon or linger longer than we anticipate. Yet, looking back, every season unfolds exactly when it should. Even now, as I sit here writing, I realize it’s been nearly a year since I last touched these pages. It wasn’t that the words escaped me, but that a new season swept in, filled with changes and unforeseen twists I hadn’t imagined or prepared for. Don’t get me wrong—change is a good thing, no matter how it arrives. The challenge is that we’re not always ready to welcome the “new” when it finally shows up.
Yet one truth stands firm: God has a way of taking what seems chaotic and senseless in our minds and transforming it into something beautiful. Not only does it work for our good, but it also pulls us closer to Him, deepening our relationship in ways we couldn’t have imagined.
I know well the pull of looking back when a new season arrives. There’s a certain comfort in the nostalgia, a sense of peace in seeing where I’ve grown and found shelter. The future, by contrast, doesn’t always hold the same allure. What lies behind us carries weight—our past is filled with tangible markers of triumph and failure. It’s easy to measure the steps we’ve already taken. But the road ahead, unmarked and untouched, can feel daunting, like walking into a vast unknown. It’s in this space, staring down a blank path, where I often feel the most uncertain.
No matter how long I’ve walked with Jesus, I still find myself weary when a new season dawns. My outlook isn’t always filled with joy and hope—sometimes it’s clouded by mystery and frustration, born from not seeing the full picture. It’s hard to envision what hasn’t yet been written. I could easily remind you where our hope lies as Christians—that part is simple—but believing it and living it out? That takes real courage and faith. What I’ve come to understand about following Jesus is that He’s both deeply concerned and seemingly unconcerned with my fears about the future. Now, before you reach for the stones or brand me a heretic, let me explain.
Proverbs 18:10 (ESV) says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” The Bible declares it, so I believe it. Yet, in the midst of changes beyond my control, I don’t always align my heart with that truth. To call the Lord a strong tower is to acknowledge He is my refuge, no matter what comes my way.
What I’ve learned—whether I embrace it fully or not—is that Christ, my strong tower, is the ultimate sanctuary where I can find peace and renewal as I navigate the uncharted waters of a new season. By definition, a tower isn’t just an ornament in a city; it’s a place of vision and safety. The one standing within can see what surrounds them, yet remains secure. When I reflect on my life being hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3), I realize the grace I need for each new season is found in dwelling safely in Him, while gaining His perspective on both the known and the unknown that lies ahead.
Dear friends, we have the opportunity to gaze upon new seasons with a heart full of hope. We can step boldly into the uncharted paths before us, knowing that each twist and turn is a part of a divine plan. Let us find solace in the unwavering truth that He is on our side, guiding us through the unknown. In this assurance, we can embrace the journey ahead, trusting that every moment will lead us closer to His purpose and grace.
As I embark on this new season in my life, I warmly invite you to journey alongside me. Let’s pause together to reflect on God’s unwavering goodness. Together, we’ll take the leap of faith, trusting Him at His word. We’ll listen to the voices of those who inspire us, drawing us ever closer to Jesus and deepening our connection to His grace.
In the months ahead, I will be inviting those who inspire me to embody Sabbath and Shalom in our daily lives. Through their stories and experiences, I hope you’ll find the empowerment to say “YES” to Jesus in ways you never imagined. My prayer is that you will discover how to live from a place of rest and peace, cultivating an overflow that fills the cups of those around you. Together, let’s explore how to weave these sacred rhythms into our lives, transforming not only our own hearts but also the hearts of everyone in our sphere of influence.
